Branding and Identity Design for a Custom Software Solution

Branding a System

When revamping a legacy system, it's crucial to create something new and engaging that users will want to utilize daily. Although the client didn't initially request a branding refresh during the implementation phase of their legacy system rebuild, I believed it was an opportunity to achieve the aesthetic vision we all dreamed of.

Through the Discovery Phase, we identified that the H&H team wanted to promote this system as a benefit to working with their team. Principals can currently log in under their profiles to view quotes or project updates.

 

With this initiative, I aimed to give the system a fresh, modern identity. This involved creating a new logo, system typography, color palette, and a UI Kit to accelerate interface development.

QuoteTrack Logo

I aimed to inject vitality into the system. The legacy system had a very corporate and somewhat sterile feel. With the new QuoteTrack system, we've completely overhauled it to reflect a fresh, modern brand. This redesign enhances the user experience, making users eager to input all their quote and project details.

After a bunch of sketching and refining ideas, I landed on the squiggly 'Q' logo icon and a refreshed typeface to pair with it. The logo icon depicts a 'Q' for QuoteTrack and the journey that a salesperson embarks on with QuoteTrack and can also be viewed as a squiggle for a signature.

Loading Animation: As a fun little detail, after a user logs in and the system is loading, there is a little 'Q' loading animation. 

Brand Elements: In addition to updating the logo, the system fonts were modernized to a more geometric style to align with the logo's tone. We also introduced a new color palette, including secondary colors for use within the system.

UI Elements: Having these elements defined, I started to build a library of UI elements to be used within the system. I had a head start on the design process from the Discovery Phase, but at this stage, it's time to finalize details and make sure they're cohesive elements.

At a later date, I created a demo video for the H&H Sales team to share all the new features that were coming with the new QuoteTrack System. This included animating all the brand elements that I created to create a concise product video.
